I read and reviewed the first two books in the series Lightening Thief and Sea Of Monsters earlier this year. I was too curious and needed to know what happens next so I got the next two books immediately after I finished Sea Of Monsters( very typical of me 🙂 ) For the last installment I had to wait little longer  it released in May 2009 so I had to wait for some time for  it to appear in the book stores here but it was  worth the wait. A finale which I thought was done fantastically.

I have reviewed a part of the series here . I am sure I have not put in spoilers but as you will be seeing the entire series covered at once ,  some extra knowledge is bound to be gained on the way . If you are the obsessive kind who feels you shouldn’t see the dust jacket of second in the series until you have read the first, then please be careful 🙂 I am babbling ..Vey typical of me again 🙂 This going to be a long post ..All the best ..

1Blurb:

What if the gods of Olympus were alive in the 21st Century? What if they still fell in love with mortals and had children who might become great heroes — like Theseus, Jason and Hercules?

What if you were one of those children?

Such is the discovery that launches twelve-year-old Percy Jackson on the most dangerous quest of his life. With the help of a satyr and a daughter of Athena, Percy must journey across the United States to catch a thief who has stolen the original weapon of mass destruction – Zeus’ master bolt. Along the way, he must face a host of mythological enemies determined to stop him. Most of all, he must come to terms with a father he has never known, and an Oracle that has warned him of betrayal by a friend.

2Blurb:

When Thalia’s tree is mysteriously poisoned, the magical borders of Camp Half-Blood begin to fail. Now Percy and his friends have just days to find the only magic item powerful to save the camp before it is overrun by monsters. The catch: they must sail into the Sea of Monsters to find it. Along the way, Percy must stage a daring rescue operation to save his old friend Grover, and he learns a terrible secret about his own family, which makes him question whether being the son of Poseidon is an honor or a curse.

The Titan’s Curse:

My Review :

My fav in the series , Titan’s Curse was the best in terms of action , emotions and revelations. It showed  Percy to be mature and lot better at his tasks , ok I am exaggerating a little bit 🙂 In this book we get to meet Hunters Of Artemis , and boy do they hate males ! Poor Percy has many things lined up for him from tracking Annabeth who is missing  and Artemis ,while taking all the hostile snide remarks from Zoe Nightshade , next in command to Artemis with whom he is on the mission.I was amazed at the ease with which Rick Riordan mixed known mythological stories with his own . It was perfectly fitting. The modernization of  some of these  tales was fun to read. Nothing jagged , nothing felt out of place.

Many new characters entered though Nico, Bianca , Rachel  .To know who is who you  have got to do lot of reading 🙂 The book’s ending rivals only with that of the final one .

The Battle Of The Labyrinth :

My Review :

I felt this book was just a bridge to make it to the final installment. It was like tying up all the loose ends so that the final installment would be lot easier for the reader. One character who stands out in this is Rachel, the girl who can see through the mist .Remember ?  Rachel is a very vital part in Percy’s quest 🙂 much to Annabeth’s annoyance .

The best part of this book was travelling in the labyrinth . A underground world made by Dedalus , which can help reach places faster if you know how to navigate it. Percy as usual has lots going on for himself and along with his friends this time he needs to defend the Camp Half Blood and if possible prevent a War Of The Titans. Remember Pan , the one Grover is always trying to find .. Its time we get to know him a little bit more.

Rick Riordan does a good job at giving us all the necessary material to fit in to the jig saw puzzle. So what are we waiting for ? Let the War begin ..

I thought of including the final installment too but it would be injustice to the book.. The Last Olympian deserves better. It was the finale , The War that could change everything in Percy’s life.. Deserves more space..So a separate review 🙂

I am a crazy fan of Percy Jackson And Olympian Series and I am super excited about the movie releasing in Feb 2010 and I had to share this with you guys , so please bear with me. I am sure you watch it on TV all the time but I needed it here because I can watch it constantly to remind myself that it’s true that they finally made a movie out of the book..Yeah  🙂 and also because they have Pierce Brosnan as Chiron ( The guy could have been made handsome Poseidon or Zeus if you ask me )  ;)  Ok , enough of my rambling , go ahead enjoy the trailers ..
